To set up SMTP for WordPress to send email through a Gmail account, you can use the WP Mail SMTP plugin. Here are the steps to set it up:

  1. Install and activate the WP Mail SMTP plugin on your WordPress site.
  2. Go to the plugin settings page by clicking on the WP Mail SMTP link in the WordPress admin menu.
  3. In the “From Email” field, enter the email address that you want to use to send emails. This is usually the email address associated with your Gmail account.
  4. In the “From Name” field, enter the name that you want to use as the sender.
  5. In the “Mailer” field, select “Send all WordPress emails via SMTP.”
  6. In the “SMTP Host” field, enter “smtp.gmail.com”
  7. In the “SMTP Port” field, enter “587”
  8. In the “Encryption” field, select “Use TLS encryption.”
  9. In the “SMTP Authentication” field, select “Yes: Use SMTP authentication.”
  10. In the “Username” and “Password” fields, enter your Gmail email address and password.
  11. Click on the “Save Changes” button.
  12. Test the SMTP configuration by sending a test email.

After you’ve finished these steps, your WordPress site should be configured to send emails through your Gmail account using SMTP. Note that you should also check that you have enabled the less secure apps on your Gmail account and also check your Gmail account for any verification email that may be sent to your account.
